Meg Johnson who plays Pearl was introduced after a clip of Emmerdale.
Pearl has been in the village just over a year but what is known about her?
She flirts, she cleans and she has a wonderful son whom she is very proud of.
We know he has an office job with the council in the accounts dept But from there it's all going down hill. If you thought you were going to have a son who would turn out to be a criminal would you call him Frank Bernard?
Meg likes working in Emmerdale she says it's a marvelous company to work for they work hard and have long hours but she likes it.
She was in Corrie and Brookside. She says she has never worked in a company where she hasn't been happy.
She started when she was 6 and did rep at 17. The youngsters today don't get the training and background that rep gave.
When starting out you did everything from making the tea, pulling the curtains and playing small parts. Meg went on to describe the weeks work in rep, it was hard work and you really wanted to do it.
Today you get children just wanting to be famous rather than acting for acting.
Theatre and TV are deferent skills that have to be learnt.
An hour and a half later Meg is back on again. She said she has known Shirley who plays Edna for sometime, she never felt like a new girl because she also knew Paula (Betty) before hand too.
They went back to the storyline which brings Frank Bernard into Emmerdale.
She wasn't giving away any secrets. She didn't yet know who would be playing Frank.
Again she was asked if she enjoyed Emmerdale and she gave more details of working in rep.
Rep was hard work but very varied and a good learning curve. She was asked about directing. She said she loves directing and has done amateur productions but never tried professionallyMeg was then asked about her daughter who is an actress, she was married last year and has given up.
But she has her workshops teaching children. She was in a an open air production earlier in the open at St. Agnes.
Meg said it was fantastic against the scenery. Good-byes were said.
